I’m so happy to be able to share a glimpse of what I’ve been doing in my crazy life lately. First of all, wedding season is in full swing, and I am constantly running on full speed ahead trying to keep up with the fleeing moments. This will be my busiest season yet, and I am SO incredibly excited to see what it brings, and SO incredibly blessed to be able to do what I love. Secondly, I have been training for a half-marathon. Yes…you heard me right…13.1 miles! My two best friends from high school, Piper and Jenny, decided it would be a fun idea for us to run the Sun Valley Half-Marathon together. We all live in different states, so we try to get together at least once a year to catch up and have some fun. I almost fainted when they told me this, because this was not my idea of fun. Let me just tell you…I am not a runner. I could barely run up and down my stairs, let alone 13 miles; however, I was determined to get in shape and cross that finish line. Another girlfriend of mine, Heather, heard I was going to do this, and decided to join in on the fun. So this last Friday, Heather and I jumped in my car and took off to meet Piper and Jenny for our adventure. I kept joking about how I hoped they had oxygen, paramedics, and possibly booze at the finish line, cause I was gonna be dragging myself huffing and puffing across it! HAHA! The longest distance I ran before the race was 5 miles…and all I could see was pain ahead as I had to more than double that to finish. Well, I pleasantly surprised myself. I ended up finishing the 13.1 miles in 2 hours and 29 minutes…WAHOO!!! I only walked about 2 miles and ran the rest. It was such an adrenaline rush, and a huge sense of accomplishment. I can now see why people get addicted to running these things, because I already can’t wait to sign up for another one! Of course I had to document the day, so here are some of the pictures from Sun Valley, Idaho…This first (and the last picture) is of the Sawtooth Mountains right before you get into Ketchum, Idaho.
Right before the race! We are SO excited! From Left to Right: Heather, Jenny, Me, and Piper
I think I was trying to get a picture of my knees shaking…I was SO nervous…
Me right after the race…I think this is my HOLY CRAP did that really just happen face! HAHA!
All of us after…very happy that it’s over, and trying not to look like we are in pain…
When you crossed the finish they gave you a medal, and a beer…PERFECT!
Soaking our feet in the VERY cold water…and being dorks!
It has been so great to get away from the computer and enjoy the great outdoors! I am still working from the road. Some of my dear friends are getting married in Boise, Idaho on Saturday. I can’t wait to capture their day for them! For now, I’m going to enjoy the last few days of this trip with good friends, and great memories…Stay tuned for more glimpses of my crazy life!
I love this, Cali. Thanks for sharing these 🙂 Your face after you’ve just finished is just priceless. Love it
